Profile Dr Haz

Devoted to perfecting the Art of Dentistry: The gentle dental specialist.

Dr. Hazlina Ishak (fondly known by her patients as Dr. Haz) is a dentist whose deepest professional passion is perfecting what she calls the “Artistry of dentistry”, fine-tuning her craft around her firmly-held belief that dental care is equal parts technical expertise and gentle care for their fellow humans. Her passion for dentistry is rooted in the feeling of connectedness she feels with her patients.

Knowing that her degree was just a starting point, she began her career purposely seeking to become apprenticed to some of the most particular and meticulous practitioners in the Malaysian Public Health sector. Her painstaking devotion to providing gentle dental care saw her learn to appreciate and master the artistry in her science, from how to hold the patients jaw, administering injections as painlessly as possible, and providing the most comfortable and comprehensive treatment experience.

After serving in the Malaysian public and private health sector for four years, she then migrated to the United Kingdom and in pursuit of her passion, began working in general dentistry and orthodontics in both private specialist clinics as well as under the United Kingdom’s National Health Service (NHS). She also performed emergency dental services under the Lancashire Care Foundation Trust (previously the East Lancashire Primary Care Trust).

Practicing in the NHS ensured that she encountered some of the most complex  cases and a heavy caseload, and garnered her the experience that equipped her with the full spectrum of skills to manage cases from initial consultation and treatment plan, right up to completion of treatment. And true to her principles she never failed to build rapport with her patients, sometimes seeing them grow up in her dental chair from visit to visit.
After having spent almost a decade working in the NHS, Dr. Haz became well known in the communities she worked in as a compassionate and gentle practitioner of her craft. Despite having left the UK in 2015 she is still well remembered by patients and staff alike.

However, with her heart set on serving her own local community back in Malaysia, she returned to the country and opened her own practice in Bandar Baru Bangi in 2017.

Dr. Haz holds a BDS from Universiti Malaya. She is an active member of the British Orthodontic Society, and has been a member of the General Dental Council of UK as well as the International Team of Implantology. She continues to educate herself in the latest dental treatments available, to always provide the best gentle dental care for her patients.
